Sri Lanka declares food emergency as forex crisis worsens

The Sri Lankan government has seized 32,000 metric tonnes of sugar – just days after it imposed a state of emergency to stop food hoarding and soaring prices.
Authorities have restricted imports while they work to address a worsening foreign currency crisis.
